How to Print to the Bypass Tray on a Toshiba Pharos Printer

Summary

This document will walk you through how to use the bypass tray on a Toshiba Pharos Secure Printer.

Before You Start

This process is just the initial set up and this is what you will need to proceed.

  • Toshiba specific Pharos Drivers. 
  • GCC ID Badge with RFID Chip
    • If you have an older badge you can get a new one from the Student Union

Steps 

To gain full access to Toshiba model function you will need to have the Pharos Toshiba Printer driver installed. 

  1. Choose Pharos Toshiba Printers as your printer option
  2. Click Printer Properties

  3. Change Paper Source to Bypass Tray

  4. Badge into the Printer and Print your Job

  5. You will notice an error triangle show up in the lower left hand corner of the screen
  6. Click More Device Functions

  7. Click on User functions-User-

  8. Click on the flashing Job Status (lower right)

  9. Highlight your job in the list

  10. Click on the Print button

  11. You should see the Bypass Tray highlighted in blue

  12. Place the paper you want to print on in the bypass tray
  13. Press the BIG GREEN button to release the job

Additional Resources

  • If you forget your Badge, you can always use the PIN number to log into a printer. If you forget your PIN, you can easily make a new one using this document (Reset your Pharos Printing Pin)
  • Toshiba Printers – Log you off automatically after 3 minutes
  • HP Printers – Will Log you off after 30 seconds of no interaction with the touch screen
  • Print jobs will remain in your queue for 72hrs. You can batch print jobs and pickup at your convenience all at once.
  • Printer Defaults are grayscale and double-sided and will feed from the default high-capacity tray.  Utilize ‘Printer Options’ on your computer before sending the job to the print queue
  • Paper Refill – Printers are in or near a specific department. While paper ordering may be the job of that department, the person printing the job is the one responsible for filling the tray should it require it.
  • Paper Jams – Paper jams can occur, do your best to follow on screen instructions to clear them. If the error isn’t clearing open a HelpDesk Ticket for support.
  • Toner Orders – These printers are actively monitored, and toner will be shipped out before replacement is needed.  Should you require emergency toner please Open a HelpDesk Ticket.
