Summary
Are you playing a video or music, and no sound is coming from the speakers? 9 times out of 10, there is a wonky setting in the PC. This is a quick and easy fix for you to try before submitting a ticket, and you won't be able to change any settings here that would cause issue!
Before You Start
- This is focused on the Windows PCs at instructor stations, but the same general settings exist on laptops and office PCs.
- Some systems vary, but the settings menu is always in the same location.
- If you don't wish to troubleshoot yourself, submit a Service Request and we'll be right over to check it out!
Steps
- At the bottom-right of the screen, click on the speaker icon. Here you can check that the volume is on. If the volume is on and you do not hear anything, click on the icon to the right of the volume slider. If you hold your mouse over it, it will say "Select a sound output". To quickly reach this menu, use the keyboard and press the Windows key, ctrl, and V at the same time.

- Try different outputs by clicking on them, to see if one provides sound. For most classrooms, the names of usable outputs include "TesiraFORTE", "Crestron Display Audio", or "Extron Scaler". You should not need to touch any of the other settings, though they should not cause problems if you end up doing so. Keep in mind that changing outputs may automatically change the volume level.

- If you do not see appropriate output options or none work, Submit a Service Request (Linked to this article) and we'll be right up to look at it!
