Self Service Banner Changes

Summary

Effective October 1, 2025, faculty and staff who use Banner self-service tools for academic, administrative, or financial tasks will now access them through MyDashboard, located on the MyGCC Landing page. This update introduces two new cards—Faculty Services and Finance Dashboard—featuring tools such as Course/Class Lists, Final Grade Entry, Finance Queries, and Budget Transfer History, while also updating the Advisor Services card with a refreshed look.

Body

Who is impacted?: The update primarily impacts faculty and staff who regularly access Banner self-service tools for academic, administrative, or financial tasks.

What is changing?: Self-service Banner links have been relocated to a new centralized location called MyDashboard. As part of this update:

  • Three new cards have been introduced:
    • Faculty Services:
      • Course/Class List
      • Final Grade Entry
      • CLO Assessment Resources
      • No Show Reporting
      • Faculty Communications (Document viewing)
      • Load and Compensation
    • Finance Dashboard
      • Finance Dashboard SSB9
        • Finance Queries
        • Approve Documents
        • View Documents
      • Budget Transfer History
        • View approved budget transfers (submitted in argos)
    •  Advisor Services Card:
      • Advising Student Profile
      • Degree Audit
      • Course Waiver and Substitution
      • Petition for Change in Catalog Term
  • Two key cards have changed:
    • The Employee Card:
      • Employee Dashboard
      • GCC Phone List
      • Human Resources
      • General Dashboard
    • The General Person Card has also been available and includes:
      • View/Update Personal Information
      • Grand Access to Information (Proxy)
      • Update Chosen Name
      • Emergency Alert Contact Information (GCC ALERT)

While there are visual and location changes to the interface, the core functionality of the tools remains the same.

Where can I find the new links?: All Banner Self Service tools are now accessible via MyDashboard, this can be found on the MyGCC Landing page.  For a brief time the Self Service Banner links will lead to MyDashboard.  Once inside MyDashboard, the new cards are locked to the homepage.

When is this happening?: The transition to MyDashboard is effective as of October 1, 2025.  Faculty and staff will begin accessing Self Service Banner through MyDashboard on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

Why was this change made?: Support for Self Service Banner 8 has ended requiring the use of Self Service Banner 9.  This transition began over two years ago and this is the final step in transitioning from the Self Service 8 menu system to the Self Service 9 menu system.  We anticipate that this change will streamline access to frequently used tools, improve the user experience with a cleaner and more intuitive layout, as well as centralize access for easier navigation and future enhancements.
