Before You Start

To get started, ensure that you have the following:

  1. A valid NetID@genesee.edu email address: This is typically assigned to students, faculty, and staff at Genesee Community College.
  2. Access to a computer that is connected to the Internet.
  3. You will need access to GSI. These steps will help you log in.

Overview

This page presents grade distribution and pass/fail rates for selected course(s) in summary tables by term. Detail data is also displayed by each part of term that the course was offered broken down by Instructional Method. Prompts allow you to filter by course(s), terms, and/or student program.

Finding the Dashboard

In this document the “>” symbol is used when representing a series of clicks/selections needed when showing the pathway/navigation for dashboards.

To find the dashboard, log on to GSI > Dashboards > Institutional Research GCC User > Program.

Welcome Page

When you get to the Program Dashboard Welcome page, you can either click on a link or the tab to get to the desired Course Grade Distribution page.

Course Grade Distribution Page

This page presents grade distribution and pass/fail rates for selected course(s) and is displayed by each term that the course was offered. Also included is a detail section where the course data is presented for each part of term the course was offered and is broken down by Instructional Method.

Prompts allow users to filter by Term(s), Program(s) and/or Course(s).

You are first presented with a Summary section with two tables.

  • The first summary table defaults to viewing a Grade Count Summary. You can also choose to view a "Grade Count Summary: C or Better" or a "Chart1: Bar Chart by All Terms".

  • Then for the course(s) selected, by term, the Grade Count Summary view provides credit value and counts for each passing grade, withdrawn, failing, and total counts.

  • The second Summary table defaults to the Grade Passing Rate Summary view. You can also choose to view a "Grade Passing Rate Summary: C or Better" or a "Chart 4: Percentage by All Terms, Courses, and Instructional Method".

  • Then for the course(s) selected, by term, the Grade Passing Rate Summary view provides credit value, percent passing, percent withdrawn, and percent failing.

You are then presented with the Detail section with a table for each part of term the course had run broken down by Instructional Method.

  • There are two columns of tables presented for the selected course(s). Each column will display a separate table for the course for each Part of Term the course had run (e.g., full year, first 5-weeks, last 7-weeks, etc.) The left column of tables will show counts while its corresponding right side table will show rates.
  • For the right side, counts tables, you can select to view either by Grade Count or by Grade Count: C or Better. You are presented, by term, credit value, instructional method, and counts of passing grades, withdrawn, failing and totals.
  • On the left side, rates tables, you can select to view either by Passing Grade Rate or Passing Grade Rate: C or Better. You are presented, by term, credit value, instructional method, percent passing, percent withdrawn, and percent failing.
