A successful project is highly dependent on knowing and identifying key stakeholders and their role, as well as how and when to manage communication with them.
Before You Start
What they need to know or have access to:
- Before creating this step and spreadsheet, complete a Project Charter. The charter provides the initial overview of and approval for the project.
- Identify the key stakeholders, including the Customer, Project Manager, Sponsor, Project Committee members, any internal and external people who may have a substantial impact on any phase of the project, including the beneficiaries of the benefits the completed project will provide.
- This document likely will evolve during the project, especially during the Planning stage, as details of the project are further fleshed out, and initial stakeholders may be added or deleted for a variety of reasons,.
Steps
- Use this document to list key stakeholders and document important information, such as their role, communication needs and preferences.
- Regularly review and update this document as any information may change, including any stakeholders who needed to be added or deleted
