MATS Guide for New Hires

Summary

A list of the most common MATS resources needed upon starting work at GCC.

Body

Summary

Welcome to GCC! We are the Media and Academic Technologies department, or MATS. We take care of non-PC classroom equipment, such as projectors and microphones, Zoom accounts, indoor digital signage, and audio/video needs during events. As a new addition to campus, here are some of the resources that we have to help you get started!

Before You Start

  • Some of these steps may require your 800 number, GCC email, and/or approval from a supervisor.
  • Our offices are located on the first floor of the technology building, by the TV Production studio. We are open 8-4 Monday-Friday.

Steps

  1. Equipment Loans
    • We have webcams, headsets, and other A/V equipment available for staff and faculty to borrow. If you would like to borrow a piece of equipment, please fill out this form (Link). You can also use the "Search" bar on our HelpDesk site to look for "AV Equipment Loan Request". In order to fill out the paper form upon pickup, you will need your 800 number. If you are unsure if we have a piece of equipment, feel free to place the request anyways so that we may check.
  2. Zoom Accounts
    • We can supply Zoom licenses to staff/faculty that hold meetings that are longer than 40 minutes, have more than 30 attendees, and/or require recording. If you need a Zoom license, please fill out this form (Link). You can also find resources for Zoom any time by using the search bar or clicking through our Knowledge Base and Service Catalog.
  3. Training/Support
    • At any time, you can request training or other support from our team. We are happy to walk with you through classroom and meeting room operations, Zoom/Teams meetings, and troubleshooting if you would like to learn! You can request Training/Support here (Link), or search for "AV Training/Support Request".
  4. New Equipment
    • If there are audio and/or video functions that you would like to add to your workspace, a classroom, or a meeting room, please fill out our A/V Consultation Form (Link) or search for "AV Consultation". We can walk with you through the functions that you would like, the equipment that can accomplish these functions, and the process for procuring and/or installing. Permanent A/V installations in classrooms and meeting rooms are typically major projects that require approval from various areas, but we typically work through these requests around the Fall semester to submit them for review. Smaller projects have a shorter time-frame, and we will keep you updated on progress.
