GCC AV Room Type

Summary 

This document presents an AV room type scheme for AV planning and implementation purposes.  

Before You Start 

This classification scheme is intentionally simplistic, as a means for the general purpose of identifying a room’s physical dimensions and capacity.  Modifiers may be included to add clarity, such as purpose (e.g., computer lab, science lab)   

Steps  

Room Type 

  • Small Room. Accommodates up to 12 people and is less than 300 square feet.  Audience is no farther than 20 feet from the display. 

  • Medium Room. Accommodates up to 60 people is between 300 and 1,199 square feet.  Audience is no farther than 30 feet from the display. 

  • Large Room.  Accommodates up to 200 people and is between 1,200 and 3,000 square feet. Audience is no farther than 60 feet from the display. 

  • Extra-Large Room.  Accommodates 200-2,000 people and is over 3,000 square feet. (e.g., RCCA Arena, Theatre) 

  • Forum.  ~6,200 square feet 

  • Open space.  Hallway, alcove, or unenclosed space in a room, which may or may not have available seating and/or work surfaces.  Wi-Fi and AC outlet available.  

Modifier 

  • Science Lab. 

  • Computer Lab. 

  • Work Skills Shop
