Summary
Zoom is a popular remote meeting application used by a number of GCC personnel. Microsoft Teams Meeting is a similar meeting application, also used by many GCC personnel. The college expects to transition away from Zoom to Teams over a yet-to-be-determined or announced time period. In the interim, personnel will be wanting and needing information and resources to help them make this transition. This document serves as a preliminary guide to key Microsoft Teams Meetings information and resources.
Before You Start
1. Log into MS Teams. All GCC faculty, staff, and students have Microsoft accounts and access to the Teams application.
2. Teams is a messaging tool with a number of features and integrations with other Microsoft applications. This document concerns the Teams Meeting feature only for compare/contrast purposes with Zoom Meetings.
3. Teams and Zoom share many common features but also a few differences. A key to transitioning is identifying and learning how desired features utilized in Zoom are accomplished in Teams.
Steps
- First, aside from initiating or joining a Teams meeting, utilizing its features is not a linear process. That is, if you want to use Chat in a Meeting, learn and use that feature first.
