3. You will need access to GSI. These steps will help you log in.
Steps
Overview
This page contains program outcomes (persistence, retention, graduation, transfer, and attrition) for the freshmen cohort. Outcomes data are provided in both chart and table format and can be filtered by program sought as freshmen, student full/part-time status, and/or degree type. At the bottom of the page is a drillable table view offering analysis based on selection of up to two (of 15) different demographics. Once demographics have been selected, users can select from 15 different counts or rates reports (snapshots, graduation, persistence, retention, still enrolled, etc.)

Snapshot Charts
You are presented with prompts where you can select by Program Sought as Freshman, Freshman Status (Full/Part-Time), and Degree Type Sought as a Freshman. By default, all programs and options are selected.
You are first presented with a series of charts including graduation rates, fall to spring persistence, fall to fall retention, and retention rates after 2, 3, and 4 years.
At the time this GSI data was pulled for screenshots in this tutorial, the following data were available:
- Persistence: fall to spring for Fall 2022
- Retention: fall to fall for Fall 2022
- Graduation in 2 years Fall 2021
- Graduation in 3 years Fall 2020
- Graduation in 4 years Fall 2019
For the outcomes charts below, the prompt selections were left defaulted to all programs and students.

Example - Enrollment After 3 Years - 150% Retention Rate Chart for the Accounting AAS Program
For this example, we selected degree program Accounting AAS, clicked the Apply button, then scrolled down to see the 3-year retention chart for this selected program.
We can see that for the Fall 2019 freshman cohort, after 3 years, 40% had graduated and 60% were in an unknown status, meaning they were no longer at GCC, there was no indication of transfer, and no graduation from GCC.

Snapshot Table
If you scroll to the bottom of the dashboard page, you will find the snapshot table which presents the persistence, retention, graduation data drillable by demographics. There are many ways to look at and analyze this data.
For this snapshot table, there are two rows of prompts to choose from.
There are three prompts to choose from on the first row of prompts, they are:
- Prompt “Select Degree or Program”: offers three choices such as degree or program sought as freshman or Perkins program
- Prompt “Select a Student Demographic”: offers thirteen choices such as Full/Part-Time Status, Age, Gender, Residency, College Village, etc.
- Prompt “Select a Student Demographic”: offers fifteen choices which include all thirteen from the first demographic prompt PLUS County and Athlete Freshman Term

On the second row of prompts, there is only one prompt, where you can select which count/rate table view you would like to see of the snapshot data (graduation, persistence, retention, still enrolled, etc.)
- Prompt “Use this list to select a different table”: offers fifteen report table choices such as Freshman Snapshot Rates, Freshman Snapshot Counts, Freshman Graduation Counts and Rates. Freshmen Snapshot 3 Year Detail, etc.
- Defaults to table Freshman Snapshot Rates

Example – Snapshot Table for Accounting AAS program
For this example, we selected the following prompts:
- Select Degree or Program: Program-Degree Sought as Freshman
- Select a Student Demographic: Full/Part-Time Status
- Select a Student Demographic: Age
- Use this list to select a different table: Freshman Snapshot Rates
We see there were 3 freshman students in the Fall 2019 cohort with the following breakdown:
- Four full-time students
- Three students age 18-19 of which 66.7% were retained the following fall. Only 33.3% graduated within 2 years. After 3 years, 66.7% had graduated and the status of the other student was unknown (meaning they were no longer at GCC, there was no indication of transfer, and no graduation from GCC).
- One student age 22-24, persisted the following spring but after 2 years was in unknown status (meaning they were no longer at GCC, there was no indication of transfer, and no graduation from GCC).
- One part-time student
- This student, age 18-19, did not persist the following spring and after 2 years was in unknown status (meaning they were no longer at GCC, there was no indication of transfer, and no graduation from GCC).
