Student Email and Microsoft Apps

Summary

This tutorial guides students of Genesee Community College through the process of setting up and accessing their new student email accounts via Microsoft Office 365. You can access this feature using your NetID@genesee.edu for login. To find your student email, log in to the MyGCC portal and click on the 9-dot waffle icon, which represents Microsoft Office 365, located in the upper left-hand corner of the screen.

Before You Start

Before proceeding, ensure you have:

  • Active enrollment status at Genesee Community College
  • You will not receive an email address until 24hrs after you register for classes
  • A computer or mobile device with internet access

Steps 

Step 1: Access the MyGCC Portal

  1. Open your preferred web browser to https://www.genesee.edu
  2. Navigate to the MyGCC portal.
  3. On the MyGCC login page, input your NetID and password. Your NetID typically follows the format NetID@genesee.edu.
  4. Click on the "Login" button to proceed.

Step 2: Locate the Microsoft Office 365 Waffle Icon

  1. Once you have successfully logged into MyGCC, look for the 9-dot waffle icon (representing Microsoft Office 365) in the upper left-hand corner of the screen.

Step 3: Access Your Student Email via Outlook

  1. In the dropdown menu, locate and click on the "Outlook" icon. This should resemble an envelope or may be labeled as "Outlook."
