Multiple Outlook Applications

Summary

The recent Windows 24H2 Update has added a consumer version of Outlook to all computers. This version, labeled "Outlook (new)" and marked by a diagonal striped envelope icon, is not intended for our use. Users should continue using the original "Outlook," which features a checkered envelope icon.

All of your shortcuts will point to the correct version of outlook and have not been changed by this update. However, if you use the start menu to access outlook vs a shortcut you may notice the consumer version. Unfortunately, if ITS attempts to remove this version Microsoft re-installs it with the next security update.

If would like to add a shortcut you may follow the steps below.

Before You Start

  • Identify Your Outlook Version: Confirm that you are using the correct "Outlook" with the checkered envelope icon.
  • Check Existing Shortcuts: Ensure your desktop and toolbar shortcuts point to the correct version of Outlook
